Clover pricing
What does Clover cost?
What Clover POS costs: the devices, the monthly Clover plan, card processing and setup, and what a Stratamize quote puts in front of you before you sign.
Cash discount program
Your posted price is the card price. Customers who pay cash at your counter get 3.5% off, and the discount shows on their receipt. Nothing is ever added for paying by card.

How it works
You set one posted price on your menu, shelf tags and register. That is what card customers pay, whether they use credit or debit. A customer who pays cash gets 3.5% off, and the discount shows as its own line on their receipt.
Most owners raise their posted prices slightly when they start, so a cash customer pays what they paid before and a card customer pays the posted price. You always set your prices; we show you the math.
A $10.00 item posted at $10.36: cash customers keep paying $10.00. Sales tax left off to keep the example simple.
We set up the program with your Clover, including the signs and the staff sentence, and test it with you before your first day.
Price math
To keep today's price as the cash price, divide it by 0.965. That raises the posted price by about 3.63%, slightly more than 3.5%, because the discount comes off the higher posted price.
| Today's price | New posted price (card) | Cash customer pays |
|---|---|---|
| $4.99 | $5.17 | $4.99 |
| $10.00 | $10.36 | $10.00 |
| $25.00 | $25.91 | $25.00 |
| $100.00 | $103.63 | $100.00 |
Some owners round to tidy prices instead. That is your choice, but it means cash customers pay a few cents more than before, and we will say so plainly.
Doing it right
Rollout
Pick a clean start date. Menus, shelf tags, price lists and the register all show the card price, and so do your website, Google listing and delivery apps.
Signs go up at your entrance and every register. Every employee learns one sentence: "Our prices are what you see posted. If you pay cash, you get 3.5% off."
We run a card sale, a debit sale and a cash sale on install day: the card receipts show no added line, and the cash receipt shows the discount. Then we check back with you after launch.
Why it is allowed
Federal law says a card issuer cannot stop a seller from offering a discount to customers who pay by cash or check, as long as the discount is offered to every customer and disclosed clearly. The details above are what keep the program inside those lines.
In Georgia, the Department of Revenue treats a cash discount the seller gives as outside the sales price, so tax is figured on the discounted price for cash sales. Confirm your own situation with your accountant. This page explains how the program works; it is not legal or tax advice.
