The sale screen has the product grid on the left, a scan-or-search box above it, and the cart on the right. Open it from Sales in the sidebar.
Add an item
Scan it. The cursor starts in the box marked Scan or search products… — scan and the line lands in the cart. A scan matches a barcode, a UPC, a SKU or your own custom SKU.
Tap the tile. Tap any product on the grid. Use the category tabs above the grid to narrow it down.
Type to search. Type part of a name or a number in the same box and the grid searches the catalog as you type while online. Narrow a broad search if more than 200 products match. Enter adds a single matching product or opens its required picker; tap a configurable product to choose an option.
If nothing matches, you get "No product found for barcode: 012345". If the search itself could not run, you get "Barcode lookup failed: 012345" — that is a fault, not an empty result; retry, and tell support if it keeps happening.
Check the picker for these products:
- A serialized product — its tile says Serialized · pick a unit. Tapping opens the unit picker. A matching product barcode opens the same picker; select the physical unit before continuing. See Sell a serialized item.
- A product that has options — sizes, strengths, flavours. Tapping opens the option picker so you sell the right one.
Change what is in the cart
Each cart line has − and +. Take a line to zero and it disappears. Clear at the top of the cart empties it.
The cart shows the running subtotal, discount, tax and total.
Something that isn't in the catalog
Tap Misc. Item in the toolbar. Enter a name, a price and a quantity, then Add to cart. The name you type is what prints on the receipt.
The dialog checks your entry before it lets you add it: a misc item needs a name, a price greater than zero, and a quantity of at least 1.
The price that gets charged
When you take payment, the server looks every catalog line's price up again from the product record and charges that. The price shown in the cart is not what gets charged if the two ever disagree — the product record wins.
That means:
- A price change in Products takes effect on the very next sale, even if the sale screen was opened before the change.
- Nothing typed in the browser can change what a catalog item costs.
- A misc item is the exception: its price is the one you typed, because there is no catalog product behind it.
If a product has been deleted between adding it and paying, checkout stops with "One or more items could not be found". Remove the line and ring it again.
Sell a product priced by weight
Tap the product or scan its barcode. A weight-priced product opens a weight prompt. Enter the measured weight in the product's configured unit and check the resulting line before payment. The sale calculates the catalog price times that weight; applicable paid options use their configured prices.
If checkout says the weight is missing or does not match the product's pricing mode, remove and add the item again with the correct weight. Do not substitute a guessed price to bypass the error.
Shortcuts
- F2 opens payment when there is something in the cart — but only when the cursor is not in the scan box or any other field, and the scan box takes the cursor as soon as the page loads. Click on the cart first, or just tap Charge $…, which always works.
- Escape in the payment window steps back: once from a tender view to the tender list, again to close the window. It is ignored while a card charge is live on the terminal. It does not close the customer-search window while the cursor is in its search box.
- Refund… in the toolbar looks up a past sale without leaving this screen.
Quick Sale, the toggle in the retail toolbar, is not a shortcut. All it does is stop the scan box taking the cursor when the page loads. It changes nothing else about the sale.
What you cannot do here
- There is no way to park a ticket and come back to it.
- There is no void. A completed sale is undone with a refund — see Refund one line or the whole sale.
- There is no per-line discount and no price override. Discount the whole cart instead — see Discounts and cash pricing.
- A 21+ badge on a tile is a reminder to your cashier. The system never asks for a date of birth, never scans an ID, and records no age check on the sale. Your ID policy stays entirely manual.
