Stratamize POS

Sell a serialized item

Select the exact physical unit, check the serial in the cart and on the receipt, and resolve a unit already sold on another register.

Menus and available actions depend on your role and enabled services. In the local demos, use sample records only; no real payments or messages are sent.

Some products are tracked one unit at a time, each with its own serial number. On the sale grid their tiles say Serialized · pick a unit, and their on-hand count is simply how many units are in stock.

Sell one

  1. Tap the tile or scan the product barcode. Both open the unit picker.
  2. The picker opens: Select a unit — Ruger LCP II, with "This is a serialized product. Scan or pick the specific unit being sold."
  3. Scan the unit's own serial into the box, or type part of it to filter the list, or tap the unit you are holding. A scanned serial that matches exactly is selected the moment you press Enter.
  4. The unit goes into the cart as its own line, showing S/N: … underneath the product name.

Sell two of the same product and you get two cart lines, one per unit. That is correct — each line carries a different serial.

Scan the product, then select the unit

A matching product barcode opens the same Select a unit picker as tapping the tile. Choose the exact physical serial there. The product barcode identifies the model; it does not by itself identify which unit leaves the shelf.

If the scan cannot find the product, search by name and tap the tile. Before payment, confirm that the cart shows the intended S/N.

If there are no units

The picker says No units in stock and "Add serials for this product from the Inventory tab." Nothing can be sold until the units are entered against the product.

Two registers, one unit

At checkout the unit is marked sold. If another register got to it first, your sale stops with:

Serial already sold — pick a different unit and retry.

Nothing is charged and the cart is intact. Remove the line, pick another unit, and take payment again.

Where the serial ends up

  • On the cart line while you are ringing it.
  • Against the unit in Products → the product → Inventory → Serial numbers, which shows the unit as Sold with a link to the sale it went out on.

The printed receipt includes the serial as S/N: beneath the item.

There is no search by serial number and no export of serial history. If you need a regulated record — a bound book, a 4473, a background check — keep it where you keep it today. This is inventory tracking, not a compliance system.
