Attaching a customer to a sale lets them pay with their store credit and earns them cashback on what they spend. Do it before you take payment.
Find and attach
- Tap Assign Customer at the top of the cart.
- Type at least two characters of a name, phone number or email.
- Tap the customer in the list.
Each result shows the name, the phone or email, and — in green on the right — their store-credit balance if they have one.
The customer now sits at the top of the cart with their balance next to their name. Tap the remove control there to take them off the sale.
If nothing comes back, you get No customers found. Check the spelling, or add them.
Add a customer at the counter
In the same window, tap Add new customer. Whatever you already typed is carried across — a number goes into the phone field, a name into the name fields.
First name, last name and phone number are all required. Tap Add & attach. The customer is created and attached to the sale in one step. That is the whole job — close the dialog and carry on with the sale.
What attaching does
Store credit becomes available. With a customer on the sale you can pay part or all of it from their balance. The balance is checked and taken by the server at the moment of payment, so it cannot be spent twice. See Take payment.
They earn cashback. When the sale completes, cashback goes onto their balance based on their rewards tier. It is worked out on the merchandise total before tax, less anything they paid with store credit — so tax, tips and credit-funded spend do not earn.
Cashback needs your rewards program switched on and the customer to have reached a tier that earns. A customer on the entry tier earns nothing. Tiers, thresholds and percentages are yours to set on the Rewards page.
What it does not do
- It does not prompt for ID, a date of birth or an age check.
- It does not make the sale tax-exempt. Tax exemption is a property of the product, not the customer.
- There is no way to merge two records for the same person, or to delete one. Be careful creating a customer who might already exist — search first.
