Stratamize POS

I can't find a product in the list

The 200-item view, and the two reliable routes at any catalog size - type to search, or scan the exact barcode.

Menus and available actions depend on your role and enabled services. In the local demos, use sample records only; no real payments or messages are sent.

Every screen that lists products shows at most 200 of them. If your catalog is bigger than that, the rest are not missing — they are simply past the end of the list. The list is in alphabetical order by name, so it is always the back half of the alphabet that seems to disappear.

Which 200 you get, and what searching does, is different on each screen. That difference is what usually confuses people.

On the Products screen

The search box searches your whole catalog on the server, then shows the first 200 matches, 25 to a page. Under the table it says which range you are looking at.

So: type, then look. Searching by name, SKU, custom SKU or barcode reaches anything you have, however many products you have.

If a search comes back empty for something you are sure exists, check the spelling against how it was entered, and try a short fragment instead of the whole name.

If a search comes back empty for everything, including a single letter, that is a fault rather than a catalog problem. Tell Stratamize.

On the Inventory screen

Inventory search queries the catalog while online, so a product beyond the first 200 browse rows can be found by typing its name or code. Up to 200 matches load at a time; make a broad search more specific.

Check the selected location before changing stock. Read partial-result and search notices: low-stock counts, value and export rows may describe only loaded results. Clear the search before count or reorder tools that require the broader product list.

On the sale screen

The browse grid holds up to 200 sellable products. While online, typing a name or code searches the catalog, including products outside the initial grid. Narrow broad results and tap the correct tile.

Scanning a full barcode, custom SKU or SKU makes a separate lookup. A matching serialized or weight-priced product opens its required picker. A configurable parent needs its option tile selected.

Very short codes can still miss when many entries contain the same digits: the barcode lookup examines a small result set for an exact match. Search by name when that happens. Offline, use products already cached on the device; scanning still requires a connection.

Things that genuinely hide a product

  • Somebody deleted it. The bin on the Products screen archives a product rather than erasing it: past sales keep their history, but the product disappears from every list and every search, and there is no screen that brings it back. The bin does not ask you to confirm — one press archives the product, and Delete Selected archives every ticked row the same way, also without asking. Treat the bin as final. If a product vanished after someone tidied the catalog, that is what happened. Re-create it, or ask Stratamize.
  • A category filter is on. Clear it and search again.
  • You are looking at incomplete drafts. The Products screen has a mode that shows only half-finished products, labelled Showing incomplete products — tap to show all. Tap it.
  • Bar ingredients. Products marked as bar ingredients are deliberately kept off the sale grid so they cannot be sold as items. They are still on the Products screen.

If searching still finds nothing

Search on Products using a specific name or SKU, then verify its status and barcode. Give Stratamize the product name, the screen and location where it is missing, the search used and any error message. A list showing no matches and a failed request are different problems.
