Wages are stored per person on the Employees page. They are a record, not a calculation — nothing in the product pays anybody, and nothing in the product uses these rates to cost a schedule yet. Set them so the figure is in one place and so it is not on a spreadsheet on somebody's phone.
Only a Manager, an Admin or a Super can set or see a wage.
Set someone's wage
- Open Employees and click the person's row.
- Find Wage & Labor near the top of the panel that slides in.
- Pick a Wage Type: - Not set — no wage recorded. - Hourly — shows an Hourly Rate field. - Tipped — shows Hourly Rate and Tipped Hourly Wage, for a tipped minimum wage plus the cash rate. - Salary — shows Weekly Salary.
- Fill in the amounts.
- Default Station is a free-text note — "Register 1", "Kitchen". It is informational.
- Click Save. A green Saved appears next to the button.
Who can see a wage
The server decides this, not the screen.
A cashier can only open their own panel, and their own panel comes back with the wage fields removed entirely — they are not blanked out on screen, they are never sent.
Opening a colleague's panel is refused outright by the server. The panel still slides in and still shows that person's name, contact details and clock status, because those come from the roster row behind it. But Hours, Sales and Transactions all read zero — not because the colleague sold nothing, but because the request that fills them was refused and the screen shows nothing to say so. Do not read a colleague's panel as a performance figure; use See who sold what.
The Avg Hourly Rate tile at the top of the Employees page is built from the same data, so it shows a dash for anyone who cannot see wages. It averages only the people who have an hourly rate set, so someone on salary is not counted.
The wage editor itself is drawn on screen for everybody, because the Employees page does not hide manager controls. A cashier who types a rate into it and presses Save gets a refusal from the server — Forbidden: Manager or Admin role required — and nothing is stored.
The labour cost figure on the Schedule is not your wages
The Labor Cost tile on the Schedule page multiplies the scheduled hours by a fixed $15/hr, which is printed under the figure as est. @ $15/hr. It does not read the rates you set here, and it does not change when you change them.
Treat it as "hours × 15", useful only for comparing one week against another. For a real labour figure, export the Timesheets CSV and apply your own rates.
What is not here yet
- No payroll. There is no payroll run, no tax handling and no export to a payroll provider. The Timesheets CSV carries hours and an estimated cost at the same $15 rate, not per-person pay.
- No commission and no sales-based pay.
- No wage history. Changing a rate overwrites the old one with no record of what it was.
