If you run more than one location, stock is held per location. Moving a case of something from one shop to another has to be recorded, or both shops' numbers are wrong from that moment on.
There are two one-step ways to do it. Both take the stock out of one location and put it into the other in a single action, and both leave a pair of entries in the audit log — but not the same pair, which matters when you go looking for the move afterwards.
From the Inventory page
This is the one to use when you are already looking at the stock figures.
- Open Inventory and make sure the selector is on the store the stock is leaving.
- Press Transfer at the top, or the arrows icon on the product's row.
- The panel opens on the Transfer operation. From is fixed to the store you are viewing; pick the To Location.
- Type Quantity to move. The line underneath shows the effect on the source: Current: 40 → New: 28.
- A Reason is optional here, unlike the other operations. Fill it in anyway — it is what the audit log will show.
- Press Transfer Stock.
Both sides are written together. If the source does not have enough, nothing moves and you get Insufficient stock at the source location. There is no half-completed transfer where the units exist in neither shop.
From the Transfers page
Transfers → Quick transfer does the same move with the two locations chosen explicitly, which suits planning a move away from the stock screen.
Choose From and To, search for the product by name or code, set a quantity and an optional reason, and press Move stock.
The product search here leaves out serialized products — they cannot use this path, and if none of your matches are eligible it says No non-serialized matches.
What the audit log shows
Either way, one move writes two rows sharing a reference, so they read as one event. They are not labelled the same way.
A Transfer from the Inventory page writes:
- Transfer out at the source, with its before and after
- Transfer in at the destination, with its before and after
A Quick transfer writes its two rows as quick_transfer — the raw word, on a
grey badge, at both ends. The audit log's All types dropdown has no entry for
it, so you cannot filter a Quick transfer out of the log; you have to scroll to
find it. If you want the move to read as Transfer out and Transfer in, and to be
reachable by that filter, use the Inventory page's Transfer.

Serialized products
Do not move a serialized product with either of these.
Quick transfer refuses it. The Inventory page's Transfer does not refuse it, but it moves the number only — the individual units stay recorded at the original store, and the next reconcile pulls the number back to match them. The move undoes itself and you have two wrong figures in the meantime.
The longer transfer flow
The Transfers page also lists formal transfers with a draft / in transit / received lifecycle, and a New transfer button that raises a draft. That flow — picking and dispatching, counting it in at the other end, recording what did not arrive — is not something to depend on yet, and this guide does not cover it.
For a move you can drive to in ten minutes, use one of the two one-step transfers above. They are complete, atomic and audited.
