Read the change log

The Audit Log tab: which configuration saves and user, location and register changes are recorded, with who and when.

Menus and available actions depend on your role and enabled services. In the local demos, use sample records only; no real payments or messages are sent.

The change log answers "who changed this setting, and when". Go to Administration → Audit Log. You need the admin or super role.

Reading a row

Column What it holds
Timestamp Date and time, in your device's own time zone.
User The name of the person who made the change.
Action What kind of change it was, colour-coded — green to create, blue to update, red to delete or archive.
Entity What was changed, and its number where there is one.
Details A short summary of the change. Long ones are cut off; hover to read the whole thing.

Above the table, N total entries counts everything ever recorded.

What gets recorded

Fifteen kinds of change write a row:

Settings

  • Saving the General tab (business information, tax rate, cash discount percentage, receipt settings)
  • Saving your rewards settings

People

  • Creating a user, editing a user, archiving one, bringing one back
  • Assigning roles to a user

Roles

  • Creating a role, editing one, deleting one, changing a role's permissions

Locations and registers

  • Creating or editing a location
  • Creating or editing a register

What does not get recorded here

Everything else. In particular:

  • Sales, refunds and voids. Use Sales History for those.
  • Stock changes. Inventory has its own separate movement log, shown on the product.
  • Price changes, tax-rate changes and customer edits.
  • Signing in and signing out.

If you need to know who sold something, this is the wrong screen — go to Sales History and read the cashier on the sale.

Filtering

The dropdown at the top left starts on All actions and lists the action types that actually appear in your log — an action nobody has ever performed is not offered.

Two things to know when you filter:

  • A filtered view always shows the newest 50 rows of that action. The page numbers underneath still count the whole log, so clicking page 2 while a filter is applied shows you the same 50 rows again.
  • The N total entries count is the total for the whole log, not for the filter.

To page properly, clear the filter back to All actions. Unfiltered paging works: 50 rows per page, oldest further back.

If the table is empty

No audit entries found means nothing has been recorded yet — a store that has not had a settings or user change since it was set up will show this. It is not an error.
