Cash discounting means your shelf price is the card price, and a customer who pays cash gets a set percentage off. This page covers changing that percentage. You need the admin or super role.
Go to Administration → General. The card is called Payments, subtitled Cash discounting.
If the programme is switched on for your store
You see a Cash Discount (%) box with your current percentage in it, and the note The listed price is the card price; cash customers get this % off.
- Type the new percentage.
3means three percent. Decimals are allowed. - Press Save Changes at the bottom right of the tab.
- Wait for Settings saved.
The new percentage applies to the next sale. Nothing already rung up changes.
Anything below 0 or above 100 is pulled back into range when it saves, so check the box again after saving if you typed something unusual.
If it is switched off
The card shows Cash Discount and the line Not enabled for your store. Contact Stratamize to turn on cash discounting. There is no box to type in.
This is deliberate. Whether your store runs dual pricing is set by Stratamize, not in this screen — see Limits → What Stratamize controls, and how to ask.
If it is switched off, no cash discount is applied at checkout even if a percentage was saved while it was on. Turning it back on brings that percentage back into effect, so check the number before you resume.
How the discount is applied
At checkout the discount comes off the merchandise subtotal, before tax, and tax
is then worked out on the reduced amount. It appears on the receipt as part of the
Discount line.
It only applies when every part of the payment is cash. A sale split between cash and a card, or paid partly with store credit, gets no cash discount at all — not even on the cash portion.
Getting the number right
The percentage is yours to set and to justify to your customers and your card processor. Stratamize applies whatever you type. Check your merchant agreement and your state's rules before you change it.
