Use this page to identify the boundaries of the retail workflows covered in this guide. Availability also depends on your store's version, business type, enabled modules and permissions. If your screen differs, confirm the available workflow with your administrator or Stratamize before changing how you trade.
Tenders and money
- A card tender at all, without our hardware. If your store has no Stratamize payment terminal and no card gateway enabled by us, there is no way to take a card in the POS. Not a manual entry, not a "record a card taken elsewhere" option, not inside a split. Your tenders are cash, store credit, and splits of those. If you run a separate card machine on the counter, the POS will not know about those sales at all.
- Gift cards. No gift card can be sold, loaded, checked or redeemed.
- Cheques. No cheque tender.
- Layaway and deposits. No way to take part payment and hold goods.
- Voiding a completed sale. Once a sale is finished the only way back is a refund, which is a separate money movement with its own record.
- Refunding to store credit when the customer did not pay with store credit.
- A manager price override at the register. A price can be changed on the product, or a discount applied to the line or the sale, but there is no "manager approves this one price" step.
Hardware
- Popping the cash drawer. The No sale button records that a drawer was opened and who did it, but nothing sends the signal that physically opens a drawer — not on a cash sale and not on a no-sale. Drawers are opened by hand or by the printer's own wiring.
- Barcode label printing. Products carry barcodes but nothing prints a shelf or product label.
Catalog and pricing
- Exporting your catalog. There is no catalog export. Importing is available.
- Bringing a deleted product back. Deleting archives a product — history is kept — but no screen restores it.
- Bundles and kits, where selling one thing draws down several.
- Promo codes.
- MSRP, price levels or wholesale tiers. One price per product, plus discounts.
- Product reviews or ratings.
Stock and purchasing
- A low-stock or reorder report in the Reports catalog. The Inventory screen has a low-stock panel.
Customers
- Deleting or merging a customer. Duplicates cannot be joined and a record cannot be removed, including on request from the customer.
- Exporting your customer list.
- SMS marketing campaigns.
Compliance
- Any age check at the register. A product can carry an age-restricted badge, and the badge shows on the tile. That is the whole feature. Nothing prompts your cashier, nothing asks for a date of birth, nothing scans an ID, and nothing is recorded on the sale. Your ID policy is entirely manual and entirely yours.
- Scanning a driver's licence. The register has one scan box and it looks for a product.
- A log of age-restricted sales, ID checks or serial disposition.
- Tax-exempt or resale-certificate customers. Products can be marked tax-exempt; customers cannot.
- Firearms compliance — bound book, Form 4473, NICS, FFL. None of it.
- Blocking a sale on a missing lab result. A lab-result link can be stored on a product; nothing at the register looks at it or stops a sale without one.
Reporting and accounting
- An accounting hand-off. No QuickBooks or Xero connection, no journal or general ledger export.
- Exporting your transactions. Reports export as CSV or PDF; the individual sales, tenders and refunds behind them do not.
- A returns report. Refunds appear as a single total on the Sales Tax report and nowhere else. Keep your own note of them.
- An end-of-day report that reconciles every tender. The drawer close reconciles cash only.
- Refunds netting off your reports. A fully refunded sale is removed from the reports for the day it was sold; a partial refund is never subtracted. See Troubleshooting → A report doesn't match what I took.
- A store time zone. Receipt times and Sales History times are the server's clock, which runs several hours ahead of the United States.
Staff
- Commission or sales-based pay.
- A payroll or hours export.
- Closing a shift somebody forgot to clock out of. There is no automatic clock-out.
Receipts
- A logo on the receipt. The upload box on the settings screen takes no file and no logo prints.
Admin and your data
- An automatic backup of your data. See Your data and backups — it is important enough to have its own page.
- Adding your own locations or registers. See What Stratamize controls.
- Archiving a user from the Administration screen. Archived users can be shown; no button archives one.
- A record of price, tax-rate or customer changes. The change log covers settings, users, roles, locations and registers only.
- A record of sign-ins and sign-outs.
- A location switcher in the top bar. Only the Inventory screen has one, and it applies to that screen.
- API keys, webhooks or integration settings you can manage yourself.
- Raising a support ticket with Stratamize from inside the app. The Support screen is your own internal ticket system.
Two things to be careful with rather than avoid
- Selling offline. Cash only, and every offline sale needs checking after it syncs. See Troubleshooting → Selling when the internet drops.
