Open your drawer for the day

Opening a register with a counted float, telling the app which register this device is standing at, printing the opening slip, and recording cash in and cash out during the shift.

Menus and available actions depend on your role and enabled services. In the local demos, use sample records only; no real payments or messages are sent.

A register has to be open before it can take a sale. Opening it records the cash you are starting with, so the count at the end of the day means something.

Open Registers in the sidebar. You see every register across your locations, each marked Open or Closed.

Open the float

  1. On a closed register, tap Open register.
  2. Count the drawer into the denomination boxes — $100 down to pennies, plus quarter, dime, nickel and penny rolls. The running total fills the Opening float field as you go.
  3. If you would rather type the total, type it. The counter keeps your breakdown, and a Use counted total ($…) link appears if you want to snap the field back to what you counted.
  4. Tap Open with this float.

You get a confirmation — "Front Counter opened with $200.00" — and the opening slip appears ready to print on a 72 mm receipt roll.

While the register is open, an Opening slip button on the card reprints that same slip.

If someone has already opened this register, you get "Could not open the register" — check the card; it will already say Open.

Tell the app which register you are at

The register you open on this device becomes the register this device rings sales against, so your cash lands in the right drawer and the checkout knows which till it is counting against.

If the float was opened from another device or another browser, tap Use This Register on the card for the till you are standing at. Its tooltip says "Make this the register this device takes payments on".

Do this whenever a checkout says "More than one register is open here — pick your register first".

Cash in and cash out during the shift

Both buttons are on an open register's card:

  • Add cash — money going in that is not a sale: a change run from the bank, a float top-up. There is an optional reason box.
  • Cash drop — money coming out that is not change: a bank drop, a paid-out.

Both count toward the expected cash at close, so use them rather than moving money quietly.

Both buttons only exist once the float is open — a closed register's card offers nothing but Open register. If either action fails you get Could not add cash or Could not record the cash drop, with no more detail than that. Reload the page and check the register still says Open.

No sale

No sale records that the drawer was opened without a sale. The closing slip shows how many times No sale was used during the shift — a count, not who used it.

It does not open a drawer. Nothing in this product sends a pulse to a cash drawer — not this button, and not the end of a cash sale. Open the drawer the way you normally do.

If checkout says the register is closed

If a sale is refused with Register closed — open a float first, come back to this page and open the float. Your cart is still waiting on the sale screen.
